Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any other questions, please contact me I'm more than happy to help.
How is my artwork finished?
All Original Paintings and Original Works on Paper are finished with a removable UV matte varnish and the edges are painted a dark blue so that you can hang it with or without a frame. The piece is also titled and signed on the back.
How should I care for my artwork?
The permanent varnish applied to each artwork provides a dust resistant layer to the work to prevent it becoming damaged by dirt over time. It also has UV protection built in to prevent sunlight from causing discolouration.
Over time the varnish layer itself may yellow or collect dirt and dust and so it can be removed to reveal the original colours and to allow a new stable layer to be applied for future protection. Before applying coats of varnish to a finished work, I always apply a non-removable gloss isolation coat to ensure the safety of the finished painting when removal of the varnish is being undertaken.
The specific varnish I use is Jackson's Removable Matte Acrylic Varnish and the guidance they provide for removing their varnish is as follows:
'Starting in a corner of the painting, dip a clean cloth into some turpentine and very gently rub the surface of the painting. The varnish should come off onto the cloth - remember to keep a close eye on the cloth and if you see colour coming off then stop. Working in small areas, make your way across the surface of the painting and try to keep using a fresh piece of cloth. This will help lift the varnish rather than simply spreading it about.'
Will I receive a Certificate of Authenticity?
Yes, all Original Paintings and Original Works on Paper come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Do you ship internationally?
I currently ship to the United Kingdom only, however, if you live outside of this area and want to place an order, please contact me with all the details and I'll see if shipping is possible.
How is my artwork packaged?
To ensure a secure transit, every artwork is handled with utmost care. I take precautionary measures by using foam edges to protect each side of the artwork.
