About

I've loved painting all my life. Though technically self-taught as an artist, I studied Fine Art throughout my school life and in 2017 graduated with a degree in History of Art from the University of Birmingham.
Even while studying the work of other artists I never stopped creating my own work. Over the years, I have experimented with a wide range of subject matter and mediums until discovering my passion for abstract acrylic painting in 2024. It was this moment in time that was a major turning point for both my art practice but also my life, as I discovered how painting could create calm and quieten the noise of daily life. Painting was not just a love of mine, but became a creative retreat.
My paintings are inspired by the natural world and particularly in capturing its fleeting moments of beauty and wonder. Rather than being representational, I prefer to capture the essence of these moments in abstract form. My current collection is inspired by a storm witnessed from a distance and how, from my vantage point, rather than looking terrifying, it was beautiful.
I'm based in Rugby, Warwickshire, and work from my small home studio.
How I Create
I begin my abstract paintings with a particular colour palette in mind. I then like to play with a lot of different painting tools in order to create interesting marks and textures that excite me. This is where accidents can happen that end up making a painting sing even more. I continue working in this way building layer upon layer until an overall composition begins to form and I can start to see how I want the final painting to look.
